Do You Need a Wedding Planner?

This post is filed under: Tip of the Day | Direct Link: Do You Need a Wedding Planner?

By: Bigler Productions

A wedding planner can save your marriage before the wedding even takes place. The sanctimonious beauty of your wedding day can be tarnished by high levels of stress and worry. Too busy? Family drama? Forgotten details? Can’t find the best man? A wedding planner possesses the capability to ease the drama, remember every detail and even track down your best man.

As a wedding videography company Bigler Productions often gets asked our opinion on the true value of wedding coordinators. There are SO many great reasons to invest in a wedding coordinator that we had to split this post in two! Next week we will focus on the ability of a wedding planner to assist you in keeping within your budget and the pivotal information they can provide in recommending your potential vendors. For now, we will look closely at how a wedding coordinator can take your wedding planning from do-able to amazing in stress free fashion.

The hours you invest in planning your wedding could suffice as another full time job! Real life refuses to be put on hold just because your big day is on the horizon. Many brides start to feel overwhelmed with the enormity of the process. ”Today’s couples are very busy people, often working long hours and having additional commitments with graduate school, a second job, family or community interests,” said Shannon Whitney (Wedding Planning Plus). ”Planning a wedding can seem like a 40-hour a week project and a lot of busy couples just don’t have the time available to spend researching every option in the area for cakes or making sure they didn’t miss any possibilities for local venues. A wedding planner is the wedding expert who can save couples tons of time and energy by presenting them with their best vendor options and cutting out all of that hefty research time.”

Your wedding day should be a day for creating priceless memories. It should not be a day spent double checking every detail and making sure your bridal party is where they should be, including your best man. ”Having a coordinator on your wedding day truly allows you to be relaxed, stress free and enjoy your day surrounded by your family and friends.” – Katie O’ (Katie O’ Events). Let’s face it. Weddings are minefields of potential stressors and a seasoned wedding coordinator can help any bride and groom navigate this somewhat daunting frontier. ”I can’t tell you how many brides tell me that they are feeling pressure from a parent, a friend, or a guest in regards to something with the wedding,” said Shannon Whitney (Wedding Planning Plus).

The focus of your wedding day bliss can diminish if you are worried about how the day is going to unfold. ”It’s your wedding, you should not be stressing about the fact that the cake is running 30 minutes late, you should be hanging with your friends and family. Pay someone else to stress and enjoy your day!” said Videographer Dave Bigler (Bigler Productions).

“Wedding planners are not only used for the full planning of an event, we are also utilized quite frequently as day-of wedding coordinators. Even if you want to plan your wedding yourself there is a moment along the way where you sit and wonder who is going to be responsible for all of the tiny details on your wedding day,” said Shannon Whitney (Wedding Planning Plus). The detail shouldn’t be left to the bride or to anyone in her bridal party or family. “A day-of wedding coordinator is the perfect vendor to take the reigns on your big day and allow you and your loved ones the opportunity to relax and stay engaged in the special moments. Day-of wedding coordination is the fastest growing segment of my business because the service is so vital and so invaluable. Ask any bride who decided to hire a coordinator and they will tell you it was easily the best investment they ever made!”

Katie O’ (Katie O’ Events) explained that you can certainly plan your own wedding but most brides don’t want to be telling people what to do on their wedding day or worrying about all the little details you have worked so hard on. ”With a coordinator on your team you can trust that everything will run smoothly and on time!” said Taia Younis (Inspired Occasions). ”In caring for the couple, managing vendors and the timeline, overseeing the décor installation, etc, Planners are there with one goal in mind – produce a flawless event and make a couple’s dream come true!”

“Above all else, planners offer couples peace of mind that all the time, money and energy invested into their special day will result in a wedding that meets or exceeds all of their expectations,” said Taia Younis (Inspired Occasions). “Wedding Planners are the one vendor whose sole purpose is to ensure that the couple, their bridal party and family are taken care of and that the couple’s vision is executed flawlessly.”
“I see a drastic difference in the overall attitude of brides that have day of coordinators helping them out. They are so much more relaxed and care-free. How can you put a price on that?” – Videographer Dave Bigler (Bigler Productions).

“Many of my couples state that one of their top priorities for the wedding day is to be able to relax and not worry about anything. Hiring a coordinator will allow you to do just that!” – Katie O’ (Katie O’ Events). After reading this you might just come to the realization that these Capital District wedding coordinators may just become your wedding day lifeline, oh and they all know just how to find the disappearing best man!

2012 Wedding Trends

This post is filed under: Tip of the Day | Direct Link: 2012 Wedding Trends

Shannon Whitney of Wedding Planning Plus shares with us her thoughts on 2012 weddings trends! Out with the old and in with the new. Are you a fan of these changes or are you more traditional?

By: Shannon Whitney (Wedding Planner)

With every passing year things change in weddings and what was in last year may not be what’s in for this coming year.  I want to share with you some of the top wedding trends for 2012 that I am most excited about.

Last year: Candy bars

This year: Bangle bars

For 2012 the secret to successful weddings will continue to be the personalization and specialization of the event from start to finish. What we will see more of this coming year is catering to the genders by offering guys a man lounge and the women a chic area to congregate and have fun. What female guest wouldn’t love to sip a martini while sifting through bangle bracelets and funky rings to match her cocktail dress? And she can take those items home with her and remember your amazing wedding every time she puts them on. Letting guests dive in to a Bangle Bar is a fun way to make your wedding stand out from the others and also give your guests a fun useful gift instead of some boring wedding favor. Bling it on!

What event in 2011 has had the most influence on 2012’s wedding scene? The Royal Wedding. William and Kate made their mark on weddings with their lush and grand event and brides are snatching up their ideas and their style all over this coming wedding year. One area that has seen a major influence from the Royal Wedding is the wedding dress industry. Look for lace, sleeves, and full skirts in the year to come (as seen below in the Reem Acra and Monique Lhullier dresses). Classic royal beauty never goes out of style.

Let’s not forget to talk about the trends in 2012 for guy’s wedding apparel. The Royal Wedding didn’t miss this area, as we are seeing a return to the classic formal look for guys this coming year. Keep your eye out for black formal tuxedos, bow ties, and the standard shiny shoe. I love this look because classic is my personal favorite way to go and because couples will look back at their wedding photos and never feel that they are so out of style because they decided on something trendy at the time. Way to keep it classy and classic!

Weddings will continue to show a ton of personalization and specialization in 2012 as couples try to wow their guests with style and details that has not been seen before. Here is another trend that can make your wedding stand out and show that you laugh in the face of tradition.

Last year: Floral corsages

This year: Jeweled brooches

Has anyone really paid attention to the corsage the mother of the bride is wearing? Well that’s because every mother of the bride wears the same ivory floral piece attached to the strap of her dress that gets crushed when she hugs people and slops around when she dances. Who needs it?! Instead of the traditional floral corsage why not choose a beautiful jeweled brooch that all of your important VIPs can wear. They can be of any size and shape and can be selected in a color to match the colors of the wedding. You can even get smaller versions to be pinned down the stem of your bridesmaids bouquets so they can match as well. This is a fun and beautiful way to show that your parents, grandparents, readers and VIPs are important and is something they can have for a keepsake forever. Please if I am in your wedding trust me I’d rather have one of these!
