This post is filed under: Real Wedding | Direct Link: Amy and Jay’s Wedding at The State Room

Amy and Jay got married on June 1st and had a beautiful cocktail style wedding at The State Room! Once again, Tiffany Wayne Photography captured the day perfectly. A few more vendors that helped make the couple’s day perfect are Make Me Fabulous, Lily~Saratoga, Fleurtactious Designs and DJ Paul Malo. The entire bridal party looked stunning, especially the bride, and it looks like everyone had the best time. Congrats to the happy couple!

Great Groom & Mother Dance Songs!
By: Mike Garrasi of Music Man Entertainment

Another commonly asked question I get asked is from the Grooms – “What is a great, but short song that I could use to dance with my Mom?” Again, just like the Bride, each Grooms relationship is different with their Mom and almost always is their taste in music. Of course, all Grooms want to keep their Mom’s happy, but at the same time do not go with something too childish or sappy! Don’t worry I’m here to help!

I’ve compiled a list of Great Groom & Mother Dance Songs that range from Traditional to Contemporary to Country to Classic. This is just a short list, but I hope it will help in making your song selection process a little bit easier. Enjoy!

“All To You” – DJ Keo
“My Wish” – Rascal Flatts
“A Song For Mama” – Boyz II Men
“I Hope You Dance” – Lee Ann Womack
“A Mother’s Song” – T. Carter Music
“In My Life” – The Beatles
“Somewhere Over The Rainbow” – Israel Kamakawiwo’ole
“What A Wonderful World” – Louis Armstrong
“Unforgettable” – Natalie & Nat “King” Cole
“Stand By Me” – Ben E. King
“Because You Loved Me” – Celine Dion
“The Man You’ve Become” – Molly Pasutti
“Simple Man” – Lynyrd Skynyrd or Shinedown

DJ Mike Garrasi Recommends Monogram Lighting

Monogram Lighting: Looking for something New & Different?

If you are looking for something new and different to have at your wedding reception – a Monogram Light is the way to go! Having a Monogram Light on your Dance Floor, Wall or Ballroom Ceiling of your Banquet Facility on your wedding day will definitely customize your wedding reception!

You can have your Initials, First Names and First Initial of your Husbands Last Name, Wedding Date or a Custom Logo Design.

A few of the areas local venues have recently started offering Monogram Lighting. They include Saratoga National Golf Club, Hall of Springs, Franklin Plaza and Mallozzi’s. Although, if your wedding venue doesn’t have it, you can easily obtain it via your DJ, Band or any Special Event Rental Company.

Also, combining the Monogram Light with Up Lighting will really make your Ballroom POP!

Below are a few photos that feature the Monogram Light which I offer to many of the Brides and Grooms who have contracted my DJ services for their wedding day!

Wedding Tip from Music Man Entertainment

Up Lighting: What is it and why should I have it on my wedding day?

I have been DJing since 1990 and have never seen a trend in weddings take off so quickly as Up Lighting has. If you are not familiar with the term “Up Lighting” it is a term used to describe Par Can Lighting which is usually placed at the base of your wedding venue’s floor, in specific locations, and shines beams of light up the venue’s walls or column’s touching the ceiling. The Color of the light is normally your primary wedding color or can be any combination of colors. The newer style lights have LED bulbs. I recommend this type of bulb because you can easily blend colors to really match a specific color and it just shines alot brighter than an “old school” halogen bulb. Although, the most important feature is that the bulbs are cool to the touch. They do not emit any heat at all, so if you plan on having children at your wedding reception, you will not have to worry about them touching the bulbs and possibly getting hurt.

A few of the areas local venues have recently started offering Up Lighting. For example, Saratoga National Golf Club, The Franklin Plaza and Mallozzi’s. Although, if your wedding venue doesn’t have it, you can easily obtain it via your DJ, Band or any Special Event Rental Company.

In July of 2010, I started offering it to all of the Brides & Grooms whose weddings I am DJing, at venues who do not have it already in-house. The response has been great! I really love the effect it has on the room. It can definitely enhance your wedding venue’s ballroom on your wedding day, with your wedding colors! It will turn the room into your own vibe and make your wedding reception different from anyone else’s.
