Amy and Jay got married on June 1st and had a beautiful cocktail style wedding at The State Room! Once again, Tiffany Wayne Photography captured the day perfectly. A few more vendors that helped make the couple’s day perfect are Make Me Fabulous, Lily~Saratoga, Fleurtactious Designs and DJ Paul Malo. The entire bridal party looked stunning, especially the bride, and it looks like everyone had the best time. Congrats to the happy couple!

Choosing the Right Dress

This post is filed under: Guest Blog Entries | Direct Link: Choosing the Right Dress

This season we’ve tried to share some tips from around the net to help brides planning their wedding – today is about choosing the right dress!

Start early
It’s an exciting time preparing for a wedding. You ought to make sure you start dress shopping around eight months before the wedding, if not earlier. You see, it can take months to find the right dress, and even longer for it to be altered to fit your body beautifully. Fittings usually take place two months before the wedding, so make sure you’ve made your selection by then.

Book an appointment
It’s not very likely you will gain the attention of a sales person simply by walking into the shop, so book an appointment. That way you can guarantee their undivided attention, and won’t be turned away to lick your wounds over a Cheekybingo game that night. In fact, you might find the only way to dress shop is to book, because lots of salons refuse walk-in clients.

What’s your budget?
No one is made of money, so you have to set a budget for your wedding dress. Tell yourself the limit in the beginning, that way you won’t be tempted to look at dresses which are above your price range and feel the disappointment of knowing you cannot have them. Savings can be made all over the place, by using second hand materials, asking for a cheaper material, or encouraging the designer to skip on some of the beading.

Shop with your nearest and dearest
Limit the amount of people you bridal shop with to a few of your closest friends and your mother. People who will be extremely supportive and honest about what looks good and what doesn’t. Too many people helping will result in an overload of ideas that could drive you mad. Perhaps you should even go on your own once or twice, to think without interruption.

Look around
Don’t settle on the first dress you like. Even if you adore it, there may well be a better dress out there for a better price. Bridal shopping is a big decision and you’ll want to make the right one.
